Once common all across America, drive-in movie theaters are now largely a thing of the past, having been all but replaced by traditional movie theaters. However, this will soon be changing in Denver.

Slated to open this spring is a state-of-the-art drive-in movie theater to be located in the Denver Mart pavilion parking lot at 451 E. 58th Ave. in Adams County. John Doyle, the entrepreneur behind the project, intends to offer people an experience far superior to going to see a film in a typical theater. Featuring a 40-foot tall, 92-foot wide screen (larger than all but IMAX screens) and an industry-leading projector, the technology alone ensures that no matter where your car may be parked, you will have a good view. And don’t worry about not being able to hear the movie, as all new releases will be broadcasted over FM radio, allowing you to play the sound through your car speakers.

In addition to the screen itself, an adjacent pavilion is in the works as well, which will feature an expansive kitchen that will serve usual snacks like popcorn and soda while also offering higher fare, such as sandwiches.

Offering a nostalgic throwback to the drive-ins of the 1950s and ‘60s, the theater will offer an alternative experience to seeing a new movie. Your own car (and snacks) replace uncomfortable seats and expensive food, and the coziness of your car replaces a theater full of movie-goers. A summer evening watching a movie with friends at the drive-in will be an experience to remember.

The theater will be open seven nights a week from April to November, while being open for weekends during the off season, weather permitting.

The theater is set to open by Memorial Day weekend.
