It was a memorable night in EL Pomar Natatorium last Thursday, Jan 8, as DU defeated Boise State University in a head to head swim meet. Boise State entered the night ranked 24th in the nation, but DU wanted a victory on senior night. The final score of the meet saw the Pioneers win by a score of 158-141.

Two seniors, Bridgette McNally (Lone Tree, CO) and Sam Corea (Vancouver, BC), fittingly led the way for the team.

McNally had three notable placings, finishing third in the 200 free (1:53.56), first in the 200 back (2:03.89) and fourth in the 200 IM (2:08.45). With four notable finishes, Corea received first in 100 back (54.98), second in 200 back (2:05.35), first in 100 fly (53.45) and helped the 200 medley relay team (1:43.29) gain a first place finish, as well. That last mark set a pool record at EL Pomar Natatorium for the relay, while her 100 fly time was also a pool record.

Freshman Maddie Myers also contributed greatly to the team. Finishing first in both the 1000 free (10:24.42) and the 500 free (5:02.35), Myers also earned a second place victory in the 200 IM (2:06.45).
It took a team effort to topple the visiting Broncos, but the Pioneers proved up to the task.
DU will travel to the University of Wyoming to face the Cowboys on Jan. 17.
