Trivia Crack is a new game that is sweeping the nation and taking control of the lives of all who play this addicting game.
Released by Etermax in Latin America in October of 2013, it was eventually translated into English and is currently the fifth-most downloaded app in the world. The number of U.S. users is over 13 million.
For those who do not know, Trivia Crack is an app that allows players to compete against their friends or strangers to see who knows the most useless facts.
There are seven sections on the Trivia Crack wheel: art, science, sports, entertainment, geography, history and a special crown section. The winner is determined by whoever can get all six characters—one accompanying each section—first.
With a click of the thumb, the wheel spins and selects a random category. For every right question, the player earns a point. Get three questions right and you get to play for one of the aforementioned characters.
The crown is a special section on the wheel allows you to answer a topic of your choice and play for a chance to earn a character. For an added boost, power ups are available to buy with coins earned throughout the game. Power ups include extra time, eliminate two wrong answers, a second chance to guess if you answer incorrectly and one allows players to skip the question and get a new one in the same category.
So what makes this game so addicting? For starters, this game proves just how much useless information is stored in the average person’s brain. For example, Trivia Crack competitors may discover that they already knew where Isaac Newton was born (England, for those who were wondering).
However, there are questions like “Which of these are a three string instrument?” and the answer is “balalaika.” The frustration of not knowing the answer to some of these obscure questions forces people to continue to play.
Another reason the game is so addicting is the ability to challenge friends, and the competition drives people to stay up all hours of the night trying to win. Even when playing strangers, the desire to crush the competition leads to fierce rivalry.
“I got into Trivia Crack because my friends were playing it. My friends and I often say that this game ruins friendships, and we are only half joking,” said Traci Reese, a freshman majoring in biology from Aurora, Colorado.
Trivia Crack stands out above other quizzing apps because it has more diversity in the game (i.e. there are more categories in one individual game) and other apps like QuizUp do not allow players to challenge their friends.
Luckily, the game lets participants only play a few games at a time; otherwise, those who play would never get anything done. Trivia Crack is available for iOS, Android, Windows phone and Facebook so anyone who wants to play can download this addicting game.
