Though they’re light, and coming in small quantities, snowflakes are finally falling in the mountains again. And before you know it, the 2014/2015 ski and snowboard season will be in full throttle. So check out the lowdown on opening dates, and don’t miss out on a thing this winter.

Arapahoe Basin opened on Oct. 17, and is putting in a serious effort to get Coloradans on snow nice and early. They may only have one trail open right now, commonly known as the white ribbon of death (watch out for other skiers and snowboarders), but one is sure better than none. The same goes for Loveland; They just opened on Nov. 1 and seem excited to be providing people with the pleasures of skiing and boarding again.

Keystone planned to open on Halloween, but due to some not-so-wintery conditions here and there, that date has been pushed back and is still to be determined. This was a bummer to a lot of people, but seriously, how bummed can you really get about a mountain not opening in October? Patience, young pios, patience.

The rest of Colorado’s mountains plan to get their lifts turning throughout November. If you have an Epic Pass, look for Breckenridge’s opening on Nov. 7, Vail’s on Nov. 21 and Beaver Creek’s on Nov. 26. These locales tend to wait a little longer to open so they have a variety of terrain ready, so expect some good skiing and riding on their opening days.

If you went for the Rocky Mountain Super Pass, keep an eye out for Copper on Nov. 7, Winter Park on Nov. 12 and Steamboat on Nov. 26. A couple other mountains to keep in mind are Crested Butte, opening on Nov. 26, and Aspen, opening on Nov. 27.
