On display from now until Nov. 30, the Chihuly exhibit at the Denver Botanic Gardens’ location on York Street combines the gardens’ natural beauty with the delicate glass-work of Dale Chihuly. Chihuly is a renowned glass sculptor, famous for his giant works of vibrant and energetic artwork. This exhibit is his first major outdoor showcase in the Rocky Mountain Region.

The Gardens are also featuring a unique perspective of the exhibit, called “Chihuly Nights”, from now until Nov. 30. Taking advantage of the earlier sunsets of the autumn season, visitors can come from 5:30 until 8:30 p.m. and view the beautiful works of art illuminated against the setting sun and night sky.

Of course, the Chihuly exhibit is not the only attraction at the Gardens. The York Street location features over 40 individual gardens and over 700 types of native Colorado plants. Each one has a particular theme and inspiration, from particular time periods (the Victorian Secret Garden) to exotic locations (South African Plaza, Japanese Gardens).

In each garden there are benches and plazas to fit each theme, offering a place to find some peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Visitors are also welcome to have picnics in the gardens, so bring some food along and enjoy this oasis in the city.

Admission to Chihuly Nights is $10 for members and $15 for non-members, and is not included with daytime admission. However, admission to the daytime display is included with a ticket to the gardens, which costs $12 dollars with a student ID. Regular visiting hours for the Gardens are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
