The Denver men’s golf team finished their season this weekend with a top ten finish at the NCAA Central Regional tournament in Columbia, Missouri. The Pioneers finished the tournament with a total score of 884 or 20 above par on the weekend, good enough for tenth place out of fourteen competitors.

Oklahoma State, Arkansas, Missouri, Louisiana State and Iowa State were the five schools who will go on to the NCAA championships from the central region. Oklahoma State won the regional with a score of 831 or 33 under par, a staggering 55 strokes better than Denver. Emilio Cuartero won the individual tournament for the host school Missouri with a score of 205 or 11 under par.

No Pioneers were able to crack the top 25 players on the weekend, although there were two top 35 finishes. Freshman Patrick Frodigh led Denver with a score of 216 strokes, which was even for the weekend. Frodigh finished 26th overall in the individual contest. Coming in second for the Pios was senior Ole Ramsnes, who tied for 34th with a score of 217 or 1 over par.

Ramsnes shot a 66 in his final round as a Pio, the best round of any Denver player on the weekend. Frodigh delivered a 68 on the third day which was his best round of the season.

“I was very happy to see Ole shoot 66,” said head coach Eric Hoos. “It was a great last round as a Pioneer. Pat played his best round of the season, shooting 68, and if he keeps improving as he has, his future is very bright. It’s too bad the other guys couldn’t play as well, but overall a good final round of the season.”
Junior Victor Doka and sophomore Adam Ruben tied for 57th with scores of 228. Meanwhile sophomore Arti Edelman rounded out the Denver team with a score of 229, good for No. 62 overall.
The Pioneers failed to advance to the NCAA Championships, meaning that the season is officially over for the Summit League champions.
