When the winter temperatures start getting lower and the last thing anyone wants to do is leave their house, Denver offers up a mixture of activities for students with different budgets looking to stay entertained this winter season.

From ice skating to art museums and 1980s ski parties, this season’s winter won’t keep anyone from having fun.

Ice Skating

Take a study break without leaving campus by heading to the Ritchie Center for some free ice skating. The Ritchie Center offers up free public skating in the Joy Burns Arena for students and community members of the Coors Fitness Center. Skates are $3 to rent so students can have an affordable activity to do. Go online and check out the Calendar of Events for the month of January and February to see when you and some friends can de-stress and hit the ice.

Denver Art Museum

Leaving the winter weather to go somewhere tropical is not always an option but transport yourself to Paris at the Passport to Paris Exhibit at the Denver Art Museum to escape the cold temperatures. The exhibit is held from Oct. 27-Feb. 9 and showcases French art from the late 1600s to the early 1900s, featuring work from Monet, Degas, Pissarro and more. There are discounted tickets every Thursday, and the museum also offers student prices. Stay warm and sophisticated while perusing the exhibit, or check out one of Denver Art Museum’s other exhibits going on this winter.
