During an Undergraduate Student Government (USG) meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 1, On-Campus Senator Jeffrey Mariano proposed the adoption of a suggestion box on campus for students, which he says he hopes would be on campus by Winter Quarter and would focus mainly on pinpointing the types of events students would like to attend.

“It was one way that I considered to hear the voice of the students, and hear what they wanted to have on campus—stuff like events, concerts, anything like that,” said Mariano.
Mariano said he views the suggestion box as something USG should adopt to better serve students at DU.

“I feel like as leader for the University of Denver we should be listening to more of our constituents,” he said.
Suggestions received through the box would be shared with on-campus organizations.

“The goal is to share these ideas with all student organizations and various departments on campus so they can better cater to the wants and needs of the students,” said Mariano.
Although Mariano says it has not yet been decided where the suggestion box will be placed on campus, he wants to make sure it is available to all students.

While the details of the suggestion box are worked out, Mariano is working on other ways to make sure the voices of students are heard. Currently, he is working on the creation and dispersal of a campus-wide survey for students, which he says will be sent out this Thursday, Oct. 17. The purpose of the survey will be to discover what kind of events students would like to see on campus.
“I’m planning on making [the survey results] available to all student orgs so that they know what students are asking for,” he said.
