“The trip will not be one that we will be high-fiving about at reunions ten years from now,” said head coach Jim Montgomery, referring to last week’s back-to-back losses at the Brice Alaska Goal Rush Tournament in Fairbanks against Alaska and Alaska Anchorage.

The team has only scored more than two goals twice, and is averaging 2.5 goals per game. Despite the two losses, the highlight of the trip proved to be freshman goalie Evan Cowley and his first start in net.

“Evan played really calm and poised. With his start on Saturday, I believe he has the confidence to know he can do it at the college level,” said Montgomery.

Though senior Sam Brittain has solidified his spot as the starting goalie for this year, Cowley’s progression has certainly given fans something to look out for in years to come.
