The DU Programming Board (DUPB) announced last Wednesday the lineup for the first annual DU GLOWfest, which will feature electronic musicians such as Sebastian Ingrosso of Swedish House Mafia, Kap Slap, Otto Knows and Hujje.

GLOWfest will be held on May 27 in Gates Field House. The event, hosted by other colleges nationally, is a festival bringing the latest in music, technology, fashion, culture and philanthropy to campuses across the country.

DUPB Concert Co-Chairs Taylor Wettlaufer and Meredith Jackson said they worked together with GLOWfest to build this year’s line-up to appeal to a variety of students’ music tastes.

“We wanted to put together a line-up that brought together multiple genres to really give the show a festival vibe,” said Jackson.

This will be the first year GLOWfest has worked with DUPB.

In past years, GLOWfest worked with the University of Colorado Program Council as well as a variety of other universities around the country. Wettlaufer and Jackson began discussing the event with advisers and other upper-level administration in September. The details for the event were finalized in late January.

“We are confident that this year’s spring concert will be successful as well as have one of the best turn-outs to date,” said Wettlaufer. “The caliber of artists, production, lights and fun will be the best DU students have ever seen.  We couldn’t be more excited.”

According to Wettlaufer and Jackson, GLOWfest opens a lot of doors for university programming boards around the country by providing them the opportunity to have larger events that might not be an option otherwise.

DUPB Concerts worked with three other companies to put on this event.

ThisSongIsSick.com, a website that was started by a University of Colorado student in February 2012, showcases both up-and-coming and already-known electronic and hip-hop artists, is one of the main sponsors for the event. ThisSongIsSick.com has co-presented GLOWfest at other universities such as the University of Southern California.

Beatport, a Denver-based music store that specializes in electronic music will sponsor GLOWfest, along with Boulder Beats, a promotional company out of Boulder, Colo.

GLOWfest will give away glow sticks and have a full bar in a designated area for those who are 21 years of age or older.

Tickets cost $25 for students and $35 for the general public. Students can purchase tickets for the concert online at glowfesttour.com/show.
