On Sunday, April 22, at 6:49 p.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from a staff member regarding an injury sustained in the Newman Center for Performing Arts. Upon arrival at the scene, the reporting party explained a student was helping to move a heavy object when they lost control of the object, causing their hand to be smashed and cut slightly. First aid was given and the student was advised to see the Health and Counseling Center if the injury became worse.
Traffic
On Wednesday, April 18, at 10:19 a.m., Campus Safety spoke with a student who came to the Campus Safety Center to report their vehicle had been damaged in parking lot 103. The student relayed they left their vehicle in the lot at approximately 11 a.m. the day before and when they returned to the vehicle at 2 p.m. the same day, they noticed it had been scratched. The student was advised to file a report with the Denver Police Department (DPD).
On Friday April 13, at 12:56 a.m., Campus Safety responded to the 1900 block of East Asbury Avenue after the DPD requested they come to the scene. Upon arrival, Campus Safety met with DPD and one student. The student was cited by DPD with underage consumption of alcohol and then released.
Harrassment
On Wednesday, April 18, at 2:25 a.m., Campus Safety took a report from a student regarding a suspicious person on campus. The student reported the suspicious person appeared to be following female students in their vehicle. Officers were able to locate the suspicious person who immediately drove off campus upon seeing officers. DPD was notified.
Theft
On Wednesday, April 18, at 11:11 a.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from an unaffiliated party regarding a theft at the Ritchie Center. Upon arrival at the scene, officers spoke with the reporting party who stated they had left their wallet in an unsecured locker at the Ritchie Center at approximately 9:45 p.m. and when they returned at approximately 11 p.m., they found $300 cash had been removed from the wallet. The reporting party declined to file an additional report with DPD.
On Wednesday, April 18, at 2:18 p.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from a student regarding a theft at the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity house. Upon arrival at the scene, officers spoke with the reporting student who stated that a statue which is normally positioned at the southwest corner of the building had disappeared. The student was advised to file an additional report with DPD.
On Saturday, April 21, at 3:37 p.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from a staff member regarding a theft from a motor vehicle in parking lot 119. Upon arrival, officers were told the staff member had left their soft-top vehicle in the parking lot for approximately 8.5 hours the previous day during their routine shift. When the staff member returned to the vehicle they discovered an unknown person had entered it and taken $380 worth of electronics.
Drugs and alcohol
On Thursday, April 19, at 3:25 a.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from Housing and Residential Education (HRE) staff regarding an extremely intoxicated and unresponsive student in Centennial Towers. Upon arrival at the scene, officers contacted the student in question and requested paramedic response. The student was transported to Porter Hospital via paramedics.
On Monday, April 23 at 12:36 a.m., Campus Safety observed three students who appeared to be hiding in a stairwell on the south side of Mary Reed. When the officer approached the students, they attempted to flee the scene on foot. Two students were unable to flee and were stopped by Campus Safety. The third student was not located. Due to both student’s level of intoxication, they were transported to Denver Cares.
Facilities
On Tuesday, April 17, at 6:02 p.m., Campus Safety responded to Centennial Towers in reference to a report of a flood in the building. Upon arrival at the scene, officers spoke with a staff member who stated a damaged toilet had caused the flood and there was moderate damage to several residential rooms.
On Friday, April 20, at 1:57 p.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from a staff member regarding a chemical spill in the E3 storage building. Upon arrival at the scene, officers spoke with the staff member who relayed they were moving a barrel which was not marked properly, causing the spill. Environmental Health and Safety was called to the scene.
