Going to the same places every week can get a bit dull, but it can be hard to try out new places when you’re on a tight, college student budget. Below are five fun and affordable places to help you mix up your nights for only $18.64 –  which just happens to be the year DU was founded.

Crown Lanes Bowling Center and Sports Bar: Located on South Federal Blvd., this bowling alley has a retro twist on the popular past time. Crown Lanes offers a wide range of activities, including bowling, a full bar, foosball, pinball, great food and video games. For $18.64, two people can attend the after-school special which includes two games each, shoes, nachos and a small drink.

The Cherry Cricket: If you’re craving good, old-fashioned American food, this is the place to go. The Cherry Cricket is located off East 2nd Avenue in Cherry Creek North, where you can get one of the best burgers around. For under $18.64, you can get a half-order of wings, frings (fries and rings), and a classic Cricket Burger. They also have an impressive drink menu that’s sure to top off your night – just make sure you have your ID after 9 p.m.

Dave and Buster’s: Dave and Buster’s is always a great place to go for a fun night. With its ideal location, students shouldn’t have a hard time locating it at Colorado Blvd.  and Evans Ave. Dave and Buster’s has a diverse menu and a full list of drinks. For $18.64, you can get soup and an order of Buffalo Minis, and still have around $6 to spend on their other attractions. After eating, you can have a great time hanging out in their game area, which features an arcade and billiards, among other things.

The Grizzly Rose: Located off of exit 215 on I-25, the Grizzly Rose features popular country acts, line-dancing and specials almost every night of the week. Aside from dancing, they serve great food and a full bar. On Wednesdays, you can enjoy a free dance lesson from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. and eat a BBQ Chicken Bacon Guacamole Sandwich, a half-order of ribs and French fries for under $18.64.

Starz Film Center: Sometimes the best way to spend a Friday night is watching a movie with friends. If you love alternative films, this is the theatre for you. Located on Auraria Parkway, this theater shows unique movies and even offers a student discount. Two students can enjoy a movie for $7.25 each and still have over $4 left to split a popcorn.
