Medical
On Friday, Oct. 21, at 2:43 a.m., Campus Safety responded to a call which originated in Johnson-McFarlane Hall regarding a student in need of medical attention. Officers responded to the scene, evaluated the situation and contacted paramedics for assistance. The student was transported via ambulance to Porter Hospital.
On Friday, Oct. 21, at 4:05 a.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from a student in Johnson-McFarlane Hall regarding another student who was in need of mental health services. Officers responded to the scene and put the student in question in touch with on-call counselors.
Traffic
On Thursday, Oct. 20, at 8:29 a.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from a student in parking lot 103 who reported that they had struck a vehicle in the lot while attempting to park their vehicle. Officers attempted to contact the owner of the vehicle which was damaged but were unsuccessful.
On Friday, Oct. 21, at 8:44 a.m., a Parking Enforcement Officer (PEO) responded to a report from a staff member that there was a collision involving two non-university vehicles just west of parking lot E. The PEO responded to the scene, spoke to the parties involved in the collision (one guest and two students) and photographed damage to both vehicles.
On Saturday, Oct. 22, at 7:04 p.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from an Argus Employee who wished to report that a DU visitor had struck a pole just outside of parking lot C, causing damage to their vehicle. Officers photographed the damage to the vehicle.
Theft
On Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 2:12 p.m., Campus Safety spoke with a student who came to the Campus Safety Center to report that their identification card was missing. The student reported that they believe the card was lost while they were studying in Ruffatto Hall.
On Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 1:01 p.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from a student in Centennial Halls who wished to report a theft from their room. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the student who relayed that a safe in their room had been broken into and the contents of the safe, which included cash and medications, had been stolen.
On Thursday, Oct. 20, at 9:16 a.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from an Iliff School of Theology staff member who reported that two signs had been stolen from Iliff property. There were no known suspects. The total value of the signs is approximately $300.
On Friday, Oct. 21, at 12:44 p.m., a Campus Safety officer was flagged down by a student who reported that they had hung a tapestry that belonged to them in a common room in Johnson-McFarlane Hall and that the tapestry was now missing.
Drugs and alcohol
On Friday, Oct. 21, at 1:42 p.m., Campus Safety responded to a request from the Denver Police Department (DPD) for assistance with two students. Upon arrival, officers spoke with DPD officers who reported that while on routine patrol, they observed two students who were visibly intoxicated and staggering. When DPD attempted to contact the students, they fled the scene on foot. DPD officers pursued the students and took both into custody. Both students were cited for underage intoxication and transported by DPD to Denver Cares.
On Friday, Oct. 21, at 4:30 p.m., Campus Safety responded to a call made from Johnson-McFarlane Hall regarding the odor of marijuana emanating from a student’s room. Officers responded to the scene and spoke with two students, both of whom denied using marijuana..
On Sunday, Oct. 23, at 12:48 a.m., a Campus Safety officer observed two students who entered Centennial Halls while attempting to conceal a large object beneath a coat. The officer made contact with the students who admitted that the object they were attempting to conceal was a large bottle of alcohol which was partially consumed. Due to both students’ high level of intoxication, Denver Cares was contacted. Both students were transported to the Denver Cares facility.
On Sunday, Oct. 23, at 2:34 a.m., a Campus Safety officer observed a student who appeared very intoxicated while leaving Centennial Halls. The officer contacted the student who admitted to having consumed alcohol. Due to the student’s high level of intoxication, Denver Cares was contacted. When the student became aware that they were being taken to the Denver Cares facility, they became argumentative and combative. DPD was called to the scene. DPD transported to student to Denver Cares.
Violence
On Sunday, Oct. 23, at 5:04 a.m., Campus Safety responded to the Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE) house due to a call from a resident regarding a student who had assaulted a SAE member and threatened the house with violence. Officers arrived on the scene and spoke with two SAE members who reported that the student in question was very intoxicated and the student attacked a SAE member and threatened to return with firearms. Officers made contact with the student in question and contacted DPD and paramedics for assistance. The student in question was interviewed by DPD and transported to Porter Hospital by paramedics.
