Construction on the Peter Barton Lacrosse Field was completed last week with the exception of a new custom logo, which has been back ordered.

According to Allan Wilson, assistant director of facilities management, the project, which began Aug. 15, had a budget of $222,628. The actual cost of the project was about $215,000.

Once the custom logo is delivered, it will take two days to install. The logo will feature crimson-colored ‘D’ and ‘U’ letters, outlined in gold and overlapping each other.

The goal of the project was to replace the existing field, which was failing in the wear areas, as well as to provide a more consistent playing surface for the much-used field.

David White, an official with the University’s Facilities Management Department, confirmed that work had been going on there. According to White, the tractors and dirt mounds located at the site were some of the final pieces of the field’s replacement.  The stadium, which was opened in April 2005, seats 2,000 people.
