VIOLENCE
On Saturday, May 7, at 1:03 a.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from the Denver Police regarding an assault that occurred in the grass area between Nelson and Johnson McFarlane Halls. Upon arrival on the scene, officers spoke with two students who reported that two unaffiliated males had approached them and pushed one of the students to the ground causing minor injuries.
MEDICAL
On Thursday, May 5, at 10:18 a.m., Campus Safety responded to a call regarding an unaffiliated female in need of medical assistance on a public sidewalk near Sturm Hall. An officer arrived on the scene, evaluated the situation and called for paramedic assistance.
On Friday, May 6, at 7:56 p.m., Campus Safety noted the presence of the Denver Fire Department and paramedics at the Fritz Knobel School of Hospitality Management. Upon speaking with DFD personnel, the officer was made aware of an unaffiliated person in need of medical attention.
Theft
On Tuesday, May 3, at 10:40 a.m., Campus Safety met with a student in the Parking Services Office who wanted to report a theft. The student reported that, sometime between April 30 and 8:30 a.m. on May 3, his Garmin GPS unit was stolen from his car in the Nelson Hall parking garage. There were no signs of forced entry.

On Monday, May 2, at 2:57 p.m., while conducting a routine fire drill at Daniels College of Business, a campus safety officer observed two students who refused to evacuate the building despite being ordered to do so.
On Wednesday, May 4, at 7:07 p.m., Campus Safety observed that glass had been broken on a door in Sturm Hall. Facilities was contacted.
Drugs and alcohol
On Monday, May 2, at 9:19 p.m., Campus Safety contacted a suspicious party in the Sidelines Pub. After further investigation, it was determined that the individual was a staff member who was under the influence of marijuana. The employee’s supervisor was notified, arrived on scene, and sent the employee home.
On Tuesday, May 3, at 6:03 p.m., Campus Safety responded to a report of a fire alarm at the Hilltop Apartments. Upon arrival, officers did not find any smoke, but did find a smoke machine in the hallway and a strong odor of marijuana coming from an apartment. Upon further investigation of the apartment, rolling papers, cigarette butts, lighters, full ash trays, drug paraphernalia, and
marijuana were discovered.
On Friday, May 6, at 1:34 a.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from Penrose Library regarding two students engaging in sexual activity in public view. Officers responded to the scene, spoke to the two involved students, and determined both to be visibly intoxicated. One student was also in possession of a false identification. Due to their level of intoxication, officers contacted Denver Cares to transport the students to their facility.
On Saturday, May 7, at 2:17 a.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from Centennial Halls regarding a student who was damaging property in the building and was involved in an altercation with another student. The Denver Police Department was called to the scene. While waiting for DPD to arrive, a staff member discovered a second student who had been involved in the incident and who was also intoxicated. Both students were transported to Denver Cares by DPD.
On Saturday, May 7, at 10:41 p.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from Johnson-McFarlane Hall regarding an intoxicated student and their unaffiliated guest in the lobby of the building. Due to their levels of intoxication, the student and their guest were transported to Denver Cares.
On Saturday, May 7, at 12:29 p.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from the Cavalier Apartments regarding the odor of marijuana emanating from a student’s room. Upon arrival, officers spoke with an unaffiliated party who was in the room in question. Within the room, officers noted the smell of marijuana and the presence of drug paraphernalia. The unaffiliated party was dismissed from the room and drug paraphernalia was confiscated.
Harassment
On Friday, May 6, at 10:24 p.m., Campus Safety took a report from a DU student regarding a potential stalking situation that has been occurring primarily off campus.
TRAFFIC
On Wednesday, May 4, at 5:26 p.m., Campus Safety responded to a call from parking lot “Q” regarding a gate arm which had struck a student’s vehicle. Upon arrival, an officer spoke with the student in question who reported that, as they were leaving the lot, the gate arm came down on their car, causing minor damage.
On Thursday, May 5, at 5:28 p.m., a parking enforcement officer was confronted by a student who was verbally aggressive in parking lot “E.” The student was also operating their vehicle in an unsafe manner in the parking lot. Campus Safety was called to the scene to provide backup. The student was cited for reckless driving.
