what went right

Sophomore Jens Vorkefeld of Germany was successful in his singles event earlier in the week as he defeated Daniel Schmidt of Washington (6-4, 6-3) to record DU’s only win of the meet. Two days later the team beat Oregon, snapping a three game losing skid.

what went wrong

In their match on Friday, DU lost eight of nine matches including all three doubles matches to Washington. The Huskies won the doubles point and five of six singles matches to claim the win and improve to 5-0.

On Saturday, the Pioneers will host New Mexico State at CAC Iverness at 6 p.m. MST.

 women’s tennis (2-2)

Utah 6, DU 1

what went right

No. 48-ranked Utah proved to be too much to handle for the women’s tennis team as sophomore Sophia Bergner tallied DU’s lone point in the match.

what went wrong

The Pioneers couldn’t handle the Utes at any point in the contest, winning only Bergner’s singles point and one doubles match on Sunday afternoon.
