Looking to stay warm despite the snow and ice, while still looking chic? These winter fashion tips will help you do both.

With many trends carrying over from the autumn months, these trends are easy to implement, including layering of certain colors and textures while incorporating dashes of excitement through accessories.

Loose knit sweaters are a hit this winter without any specific guidelines for style.

Whether it’s v-neck or turtle-necks, bright-colored or neutral-toned, loose knit sweaters are a must to keep warm and look good.

A benefit that these types of items have is flexibility–they can be worn with long sleeve shirts or a cami underneat to suit the weather for any given day and provide extra insulation for your walk to class.

In addition, the sweaters can be worn with any tight-fitting bottoms, including skinny jeans or leggings for a dramatic yet casual appearance.

Sweater dresses are also making a comeback this winter. Sweater dresses are simply long, knitted sweaters designed to be worn as a dress with bottoms underneath. Soft cotton or cashmere fabrics are the front-runners for sweater dresses by providing a slimming shape without being skin-tight.

Mixing bold colors with plain-colored tights will further provide depth and shape. Sweater dresses typically look best paired with opaque or black leggings or skinny jeans.

Trendy trench coats have been one of the key clothing items for this season due to their dual functions. They can be worn in any type of weather, including rain, snow or sleet. Bold-colored trench coats are best to avoid any scary sterotypes.

The most flattering trench coats are generally those that remain tight around the waist and fall right below the hip.

Monchromatic tones are key for looking sleek this winter among the obnoxious puffy winter coats. using soft grays, blues, righ browns, blacks and cream colors, anyone can pull off a classic chic look in the snow.

For a little extra something in your outfits, get creative with layering your tops and potentially bottoms. Lots of layers is essneital. Not only is this good for cold weather, but it adds depth and sophistication to your wardrobe.

Try layering different textures and mixing the monochromatic colors to see what works best for you.

Animals prints also remain a timeless fashion crossing over from the fall trends. Animal prints are best used as accessories, including handbads and cold weather attire, such as gloves and scarves.

The key to implementing animal print into your outfits is to do so in a sohpisticated manner without looking tacky. Remember, too much can be bad.

Animal prints typically work best with black, white and red. For example, try wearing black leggings and a neutral colored cardigan with an animal print handbag.

Over-the-knee boots remain in style, too. This can be enhanced with a little layering as well.

Knee high socks pulled over your jeans or leggings to reveal a little color peeking out of your boots is an easy way to make your outfit unique.

Follow these easy tips and you’ll be both uniquely-style and warm as the winter season brings chilly temperatures and long walks to class.
