DU just cannot seem to get enough of Milkman

After the mash-up artist’s resounding success with the student body when presented by Sigma Chi at the Gothic Theater last May, Milkman seemed a natural choice for DUPB to recruit to preform at this past weekend’s Winter Carnival festivities and a great many bravos and snaps for doing so, DUPB.

The affection, it seems, is mutual, as Milkman—also known as Gregg Luskin, when not throwing down steezy beats behind his dual Mac laptops- admitted in an interview with Joseph Huttner that the best venue he ever played was, “[the]University of Denver.”

I have never seen a crowd with so much energy before.

DU students did not fail in its efforts to bring that energy again in its second encounter with the mash-up prince of our hearts.

Inspiring a dance floor that more closely resembled an orgy and a great number of students who will not remember anything but the hazy outlines of an epic performance and the seventh shot of Cuervo, Milkman once again captured the collective hearts of our Winter Carnival goers.

Luskin intermixed many favorite pieces from his two previously released albums, Lactose and THC and Circle of Fifths.

He began Jackson Five flashbacks as seen in his first album’s “I Want You Back” and interspersed many pieces from his newer hits, including pieces of his unforgettable mash-ups like “Good Sex” and “Heart to Heart.”

The fact that he only gave us a hint at what was known and predictable made for a refreshing and exciting performance.

In between chugs of a mysterious amber liquid in a plastic water bottle (which he at one moment shared generously with enthusiastic members of the front row, who could barely be restrained from crawling on stage to join him), Milkman delivered a dance party of the unexpected, leaving the crowd to constantly anticipate what he would throw their way next.

They were rarely disappointed.

Toward the end of the performance, Milkman gave us a taste of what to expect on his next album, with a song that left the DU salivating for more, and wishing that our favorite Milkman would deliver our milk every morning.
