Women’s basketball to host coaching clinic
The women’s basketball team will be hosting a Coaching Clinic on Oct. 24 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m in Hamilton Gymnasium.
Head coach Erik Johnson will give a two-hour chalk talk, which begins at 2 p.m. following a three hour open-gym practice.
“The Coaches’ Clinic is a great opportunity for our coaching staff and those of the surrounding high school girls’ basketball programs to come together and talk basketball,” Johnson said in a press release.
“There are a lot of great coaches in the Rocky Mountain Region the clinic will allow everyone to come together to learn from one another and see new approaches to coaching techniques.”

Bozak called up, contributes an assist
Tyler Bozak, an ex-player for the the University of Denver’s hockey team, was called up to play for the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs.
Bozak initially signed with the Maple Leafs as an undrafted free agent.
After an impressive preseason, which included his first career goal, Bozak was one of the final cuts from the final regular season roster.
His promotion comes only weeks after he was being demoted to the American Hockey League affiliate the Toronto Marlies.
The decision to call up Bozak proved to be a smart one for the Maple Leafs.
On Oct. 13, in the second period of a game against the Colorado Avalanche, Bozak dished to teammate Francois Beauchemin who scored. Bozak was credited for his first career assist.
The Maple Leafs ended up losing the contest to the Avalanche 4-1, but Bozak’s assist marks the beginning of his career.
