Halloween week is now upon us, and those seeking to be thrilled will be making the decision on what haunted house they want to attend. With so many options around campus, all ranging in scariness, the decision is going to be a tough one. However, the Clarion is here to help by informing you of the best haunted attractions Denver has to offer.

The 13th Floor:

The 13th Floor Haunted House is claimed to be one of the best haunted houses in Denver, according to USA Today. It’s about a 25-minute drive from campus, located at Brighton Blvd. and I-70, about a block from the Denver Coliseum.

They have two attractions offered this year. The first is “Undead: The Possession” and the other is “Dwelling with the Dead.” They will both give you blood, possessed humans and a definite scare, and the Dwelling of the Dead will have zombie-like creatures that will make you scream.

Tickets for general admission range from $25 to $29 depending on the day of the week, and the doors are open from 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. on weekdays and 7 p.m. to midnight on weekends.

The Asylum:

The Asylum Haunted House is about a 25-minute drive from campus, located at 6100 E. 39th Ave. This haunted house will lead you into the deepest, darkest part of a hospital for the “mentally insane,” into the hidden passage holding the asylum. With new layouts and scare attractions every year, who knows what could happen.

The tickets range from $25 to $29 depending on the night you go, and doors are only open until Nov. 2, so hurry in this week. The Asylum is open from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and for Halloween weekend it will be open from 7 p.m. to midnight.

Haunted Field of Screams:

For those who want to be scared outdoors, you can do that in three ways, all in one location: Haunted Field of Screams.

Self-claimed to be the largest haunted attraction in Colorado, this place is a thirty-minute drive from campus and will take you to a haunted field near Thornton.

The main attraction is a cornfield filled with every scary character you could imagine. Here, you’ll experience different scenes and rooms to encounter clowns, chainsaws, zombies, asylum patients and the walking dead. Good luck getting through, because the only light you’ll have is the moon.

The second attraction at the Field of Screams is the Dead Man’s Night Maze. There are wrong turns, dead ends and only one way in and one way out. This maze is filled with monsters and zombies to spook you at every turn you take. There is no rescue crew for this, so prepare yourself to get scared and lost until you reach the end.

The last attraction is interactive and a way for you to get back at the creatures that scared you all night long. With twenty other people on a hayride through the cornfield, you’ll be armed with paintball guns. That’s right, in Zombie Paintball Massacre you’ll be able to shoot the zombies with your paintball gun to stop the takeover. This interactive haunted adventure will keep you on your toes to save the cornfield from all the zombies that venture through.

All of the events that take place at the Haunted Field of Screams start at sundown. Tickets range in price, depending on how many attractions you wish to endure. One attraction is $20, two is $35 and all three is $40. You can venture up to the Field of Screams Thursday through Sunday. On Thursdays and Sundays, the Field is open until 10 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays, it’s open until midnight.
