This week, the Clarion sat down with women’s lacrosse player, Jill Remenapp.

Q: When and how did you begin playing lacrosse?

A: I started when I was about five years old. I have two older brothers and they’ve been playing since they were young. I grew up going to all of my brother’s games. My dad played since he was a kid and he played in college, as well. It’s kind of a family sport.

Q: How did you come to DU?

A: I got recruited through club tournaments. Then, I came out here for a visit. As soon as I saw the mountains and the campus I fell in love with it. This is where I wanted to be.

Q: Has your outlook on the game changed from your freshman year to your senior year?

A: It is definitely more serious now, but at the same time it’s more fun. It’s getting down to the last two months of lacrosse in my life. It’s coming to an end and I’m trying to enjoy every moment. Freshman year I didn’t have that mentality. I want to end my last year with as much success as possible.

Q: What has been your favorite win of the season so far?

A: I think the Dartmouth game was a highlight because so many people were stepping up. This was the one game where connections all around the field were made, the team was connecting as one.

Q: Looking forward, is there one game you are particularly excited for?

A: I think the next game against Stanford is going to be really exciting. It’s a repeat of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Championship game from last year. They’re ranked in the top ten so it’ll be great to play one of the best teams in the nation.
Q: What are your personal goals and the goals for the team for the remainder of this season?

A: I want to win the MPSF Championship again, along with being regular season champions. We play every team in conference once and I want to beat all the teams in the conference. The past few years, we’ve been undefeated in conference. Making it to the NCAAs and advancing further than before would be great, too.
