Senior striker Jessie Dancy (Park City, Utah) and sophomore midfielder Hannah Adler (Oak Park, Calif.), both accounted for DU scores for the Crimson and Gold win against Omaha. Sophomore goalkeeper Brittany Wilson (Littleton, Colo.) made five saves to put the Pioneers past Omaha for a final score of 2-0 on Oct. 15 at Caniglia Field.

“Every time this season that we’ve suffered a gut-wrenching loss, like we did on Thursday (Oct. 12), this team has found a way to rebound and get a win in the next match,” head coach Jeff Hooker said. “Today was no different. We had a great finish from Adler in the first half to give us the lead, and Brittany had a couple big-time saves to keep us ahead in the second half. Her technique on her last save was brilliant to push that out for a corner and not give up a rebound.”

Hooker continued to say, “Finally to secure the victory, Jessie did what every greedy goal scorer should do. She could have run to the corner flag, but she had a great opportunity to score and increase our goal difference in the league, and she got that opportunity off a great assist from Angelica [Pacheco].”

Junior co-captain Mary DeWalt (West Bend, Wisc.) started the scoring opportunity down the right flank, crossing a ball to the far post to the run of senior forward Angelica Pacheco (Taos, N.M.). Pacheco knocked the ball into the middle of the frame to the feet of Adler, who finished her eighth goal of the season and the 12th of her two-year career. The goal was recorded in the 31st minute of the game, giving the Pioneers a good start to the Omaha lineup.

In the 89th minute, Omaha’s Susie Dineen got free in the box, and struck a shot that looked destined for the bottom corner, but Wilson made an incredible save, keeping the opposition at a score of zero. Wilson recorded the sixth cleansheet of her career, including her fourth of the 2017 campaign.

DU Women’s Soccer will host their last home game on Oct. 22 against Western Illinois at 12 p.m.
