Still trying to cope with summer’s end? Here are some classic pop-hits from the early 2000’s to help you readjust to hitting the snooze button once, hopefully. Be forewarned, the list does include Creed.

1. Summer Girls- LFO

It’s still summer weather after Labor Day in Denver, right? Can’t we still frost our tips in September and cut camo pants into jorts. My Sony boombox has like two hours of juice left in it’s AA batteries.

2. Wake Me Up When September Ends- Green Day

I’m burning my Lisa Frank calendar in my parent’s furnace and setting my AIM chat to “away”.

3. A Thousand Miles- Vanessa Carlton

Freshmen, five minutes late to your first 8 AM class on Monday? Blast this on your walkman while you’re making your way to the fourth floor of Sturm. Just don’t mouth breathe,– we’ll all know you forgot to brush your teeth after your first cup of coffee.

4. Say it Ain’t So- Weezer

No more waking up at 11 AM and frozen taquitos for brunch. No more weeknight Red Rocks shows, no more Dungeons and Dragons in your parents’ garage until the wee hours of the morning. Say goodbye to freedom, say hello late nights at AAC with a prepackaged ham and cheese sandy for the next ten weeks.

5. With Arms Wide Open- Creed

Any seasoned student (me) knows the only way to greet a new quarter is with Creed. A lesson to be learnt lurks in the warm voices of these radio-grade grunge angels who’ve fallen deep, deep down into the dredges of music history. There’s no going back now, guys. We might as well embrace the fall quarter with arms wide open (and a little elbow grease for good measure).
