On Feb. 9, The Denver Post published an article explaining that Noodles & Company (NASDAQ: NDLS) would close 55 of its under-performing restaurants by the end of the first quarter in an effort to improve its bottom line. The Noodles & Company on the corner of S. Williams St. and E. Evans Ave. near DU was one of the 55 locations to close.

According to The Denver Post article, chief operating officer and interim CEO Dave Boennighausen said, “Many of these under-performing restaurants opened recently in new markets.” Alongside the closures, Noodles & Company plan to shift some company-owned stores to franchise owners. Franchise owners currently run 15 percent of all Noodles & Company locations.

The nearest Noodles & Company to the DU campus is now located off of E. Iowa Ave. and S. Colorado Blvd. at 1502 S. Colorado Blvd.
