Spring break at DU is significantly shorter than winter break, yet there are still many opportunities to take a quick Spring Interterm class and earn credit, whether you’re traveling or hanging around DU. This year, interterm classes will begin on March 18, running until March 26, and there is quite the selection for course destinations.

A management course called “Sustainable Decisions—Alaska’s Iditarod Way” is being offered in multiple cities in Alaska, departing on March 18 and returning on March 26.  As part of this course, students will get the chance to discuss and examine sustainable decisions made in Alaska from both traditional and modern perspectives.  The program fee is $2,200, which does not include airfare. The deadline to apply is Feb. 15.

If you’re looking to head south to Latin America, there are two classes being offered in that region: “Development Dilemmas,” a geology class in Nicaragua, and “Psychology of Music” in Puerto Rico.  The program fees for these classes are $1,600 and $1,250, respectively, which do not include airfare.  In Nicaragua, students will primarily be talking to locals, developers and non-governmental organizations to discuss the cultural shifts of the country post-imperialism. While in Puerto Rico, students will examine the deeper psychological connections of music in an entirely new atmosphere.  Currently, the deadline for the class in Nicaragua has passed, but it wouldn’t hurt to reach out and see if they have any unexpected openings. The class in Puerto Rico is still accepting applications until Feb. 25.

There are a few other traveling courses being offered during spring break, but there are also a variety of courses being held on DU’s campus. “Feminism and Film,” “Small Business Start Up and Management” and “Technology in Marketing and Versions of Magical Realism in Literature and Cinema” are just a few.

All Spring Interterm courses can be viewed on the DU Interterm page and students can apply for financial aid to help offset the costs of these academic opportunities on DU’s Interterm Financial Aid
