DU held its third Internationalization Summit on Friday, April 15.

Friday’s summit was organized around the theme “Uncommon Intersections: Cultivating Multiple Perspectives at Home and Abroad.” The theme explored the ways in which internationalization advises and intersects with education. The Summit started at 8 a.m. in the morning and ended at  3:40 p.m. The Internationalization Summit, connected with Culture Fest, which celebrates the diversity at DU, featured many prominent speakers.  

The summit featured many research presentations and events like workshops, lectures and discussions. The sessions in the Summit took place in Ruffatto Hall with the keynote speaker Lourdes Garcia-Navarro’s session held in the Driscoll Ballroom during lunch. Garcia-Navarro, an NPR international correspondent covering South America, addressed her topic “Parallel Lives: Stories from an Interconnected World”.

Two of the other speakers featured in the Summit were Lauren Collins, who discussed combating Islamophobic stereotypes of international Muslim students, and Jenaya Perdue, who discussed transforming African American scholars into global citizens.
The Internationalization Summit was an educational and influential day for the DU community which featured many inspiring lecturers and interesting workshops which taught all that attended about cultivating perspectives at home and abroad.
