When you’re in college balancing a rigorous schedule, it’s easy for spring break planning to slip your mind. Between all the paper-writing and coffee-guzzling so emblematic of finals week, you barely have enough time to bid farewell to that table at Stella’s near the closest wall outlet before you begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel—spring break. And that’s when you realize it: you were in such a studying daze that you forgot to make any fun spring break plans.

Have no fear, the Clarion’s got you covered with plenty of fun activities to keep you occupied in Denver or wherever else you’ll be spending an otherwise uneventful break.

Go to a comedy show

After a stressful quarter, there’s no bigger relief than having time to dedicate just to laughing. You may feel like you need a laugh when you think about the fact that your friends are sunning and partying on the beach in Florida or Mexico. If you’re at least 21 and in Denver, Comedy Works will be hosting the likes of Jay Leno, Louis Johnson and Clayton English the week of DU’s much-needed break. You can buy tickets at comedyworks.com.

Go to a music event

You may not be able to view a concert with your feet in the sand and a margarita in hand, but you can still enjoy some great live music. Ty Dolla Sign and Future will be at the Fillmore Auditorium on March 15; tickets are being sold for $39.95 at concerts.livenation.com.

Attend a St. Patrick’s Day celebration

Just because you didn’t book a flight to an exotic location doesn’t mean you can’t act like you’re on vacation. St. Patrick’s Day falls right in the middle of DU’s break this year, on March 17, so make the most of it by attending a parade or heading to a pub. There will be a St. Patrick’s Day parade in downtown Denver on March 12 at 9:30 a.m., complete with dancers, marching bands and stagecoaches. If you want to commemorate the holiday with an assortment of beers, Fado Irish Pub Denver’s got you covered with great drinks and an outdoor festival following the parade. You can buy your ticket to the 10 hours of bands, DJs, entertainment and, of course, beer at altitudetickets.com.
