Go ahead, celebrate the romance in your life on Valentine’s Day, but reserve the Saturday before for your ladies. Created by Amy Poehler’s Leslie Knope in a 2010 “Parks and Recreation” episode, this Feb. 13 holiday exists solely for “ladies celebrating ladies.” It’s not just strictly for the made-up women of Pawnee, Indiana; it’s the perfect opportunity to celebrate all the supportive, inspiring friends in your life. Here are the Clarion’s favorite ways to commemorate the holiday:

Plan a brunch

Follow in Leslie’s footsteps and spend your mid-morning with your closest friends, handmade gifts, flowers and, of course, a whole bunch of waffles. For an option within walking distance of DU’s campus, Jelly offers an abundance of both flapjacks and an easygoing atmosphere. All you need to provide are the carnations and handcrafted honorariums. And if you feel like making the trek, Syrup in Cherry Creek boasts mouthwatering dishes like Nutella Stuffed French Toast ($11) and S’mores Pancakes ($10).

Go on a shopping spree

Treat yo’selves to any number of pantsuits or realistically-pleasing purchases. Buy matching outfits and friendship bracelets—whatever you need to do to remind yourself that you and your friends are forever, that ovaries come before brovaries.

Enjoy a super relaxing spa day

Book the day at a nearby spa such as Antoine Du Chez where you can enjoy a manicure for as low as $24. Or if you really feel like indulging, you and your bestie can partake in their Valentine’s Day Package that boasts two and a half hour deep tissue massages for $180.

Write the movie of your lives

Whether you’ve lived in five different countries between everyone in your friend group or have collectively danced on every elevated surface on campus, you’ve got a story to tell. So spend the entirety of Galentine’s Day brainstorming a potential autobiographical movie a la “Trainwreck” and imagine what your lives would be like if it catalyzed a rise to fame in which you all rubbed elbows with the rich and famous.
