Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching, and if you’re in a relationship (or want to be), the perfect way to let your special someone know you care is to take him or her on the perfect date. But if no ideas come to mind, don’t fret—the Clarion has you covered with date ideas that are sure to charm your sweetheart and not break the bank.

Go skating in downtown Denver

Skyline Park (corner of 16th and Arapahoe)

Skating is a great romantic winter activity to begin with, and the fact that this rink happens to be located in the middle of downtown takes this date to a whole new level. To top it all off, the rink is completely free if you bring your own skates, and it’s only $2 to rent them, leaving you with plenty of funds to get some dinner or coffee afterwards.

Go to D-Bar Desserts

494 E. 19th Ave.

It’s a pretty basic fact of life that everyone loves desserts, so why not take your date to a bar for desserts? They have every kind of sweet you could ever want—from familiar favorites like milkshakes to plenty of other fun, experimental dishes that will satisfy any sweet tooth. They even have some savory snacks for when the sugar high hits. It’s the perfect alternative to a boring dinner at some restaurant you both have been to a million times.

Go on a romantic hike

We’re in the middle of Colorado, one of the most beautiful places in the country, so why not take your date out to enjoy some nature? The nice thing about hiking is that you can easily find different trails to fit both of your hiking levels—from a quick walk in the woods to scaling a 14er, there’s something for everyone. Take some food and drinks for when you get to the top, or some other scenic stopping place, and have a nice little picnic for two.
