Just a few weeks ago, DU’s class of 2019 arrived on campus, ready to dive into four of the best years of their lives. With the entrance of this diverse, unique, creative and astonishingly intelligent group of new Pioneers into the vibrant culture of DU, more pioneer pride than ever before is sure to adorn the campus. Obviously, this class is made up of a variety bright, excited people. But how big of a variety is there? How bright are they? How excited are they? We decided to find out. Why did you choose DU?

“I chose DU because when I visited for the first time, I could instantly tell there was an academically engaged community of open-minded, intelligent students. I believe that is a key thing in creating a positive learning environment. Not only is DU a great choice in terms of academics, our freshmen class is also involved in many extracurriculars, from the Alpine Club to so many opportunities where we can get involved in the community.”

Now that you’ve been here for three weeks, what makes you feel like coming to DU was the right decision for you?

“When I visited, all across campus there was really just a welcoming community, and such a natural politeness was present where people really wanted to get to know you. My class especially makes this place feel like home—so many different dynamics come together to make up one unit of the Class of 2019.”

What made DU stand out above the other school’s that you looked at when you were college-searching?

“I loved the real estate school, and I received a great scholarship. But ultimately, now that I’ve been here for a while, I love how diverse and unique the freshman class is—all the different kinds of talented people that I’m able to meet makes going to DU such an awesome experience.”
