Every Sunday from mid-May to mid-November, charming South Pearl Street is packed with all walks of life at the Pearl Street Farmers Market. This event that started in 2001 has grown into a popular neighborhood happening for neighbors and DU students alike. The farmers market hosts a variety of vendors who sell sauces, baked goods and soaps among the fresh produce. The vendors are all friendly and helpful and the people there are enthusiastic to be there as well. While all the hustle and bustle might be overwhelming there is no need to worry, here is a breakdown of some of the cream of the crop vendors to check out.

Guerrero’s Chile

Guerrero’s is a family business that has been perfecting their chile recipe since 1997. They have a vendor’s stand with artfully displayed chile peppers and their very own fire roaster on site. Specializing in roasting green chile peppers, they also offer chile spices and dehydrated and fire-roasted chiles.

Miller Farms

The Miller Farm Stand lets you fill a five-pound potato bag with as many veggies as possible for only $10 and offers a wide selection of produce such as squash, lettuce, mushrooms and green beans. Even though fall is in full swing, they still have several summer products like corn and tomatoes as well.

Joy Nut Co.

While there are a bounty of healthy snacking products offered at the farmers market, the Joy Nut Co. stands out. Their artfully-flavored almonds will make health nuts and dedicated snackers alike drool. The Joy Nut Co. flavors include cocoa mint, cinnamon, cocoa roast and roasted, salted almonds. All flavors are delicious on their own or mixed into trail mixes.

Kettle Head Popcorn

At the south end of the farmers market, Kettle Head Popcorn provides deliciously-seasoned popcorn. With reasonable prices and delicious flavors such as Cheddar and BBQ, this place is not to be missed.

The Old South Pearl Street Farmers Market is definitely worth checking out. The food trucks, live music and free samples are more than enough reason to go. But, if that isn’t enough, there are always cute puppies to oggle at as well. Make sure to bring water and a hat as it can get hot out, and most importantly, be prepared to enjoy a day of fun and food.
