For Him

A homemade card

Guys aren’t expecting gifts on Valentine’s Day, and they might even feel bad if you get them one. A simple homemade card means a lot, and can be the perfect, simple gift for him.

Food

Dudes love food. Whether you get them cookies, steak or anything really, they’ll appreciate it. Don’t overthink Valentine’s gifts—sometimes it’s simple ones like these that really hit the spot.

Drinks

For the 21+ folks, a nice bottle is a great gift, or a nice six-pack of some Colorado craft beer. This way, you know they’ll love it and it’s something they’ll put to use without a doubt.

Watch

If you’re in a more serious relationship where you feel ready to get a nice gift, go for a watch. It’s something they can wear all the time to think of you, and now they’ll never be late to pick you up for a date again.

Clothes

Most guys don’t go out of their way to buy clothes for themselves, so do it for them and get them something nice to wear. But just play it safe with something you know think will definitely wear, so it doesn’t sit in his closet and create awkward tension between the two of you.

For Her

Candy

All girls, in fact all people, like some kind of candy, and Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to indulge that sweet tooth. Bonus points if you get your girl’s favorite kind of candy; it shows how well you know her.

A massage

You don’t have to spend any money on this one. Giving a massage (or back scratch) can be a perfect and personal way to give your girl some TLC on Valentines Day. Bonus points if the massage is given while she’s eating the candy you gave her.

Jewlery

If you’re in a pretty serious relationship and want to give something nice, the tried and true jewlery route is always a winner. Be sure to observe what kind she likes so you can pick out the perfect trinket.

A handwritten letter

Write her a cute love letter with all of your inside jokes and everything you love about her (or like about her, if you’re not quite there yet). It’s a wonderful way to tell her you care, and who doesn’t love getting a handwritten letter?

Make her dinner

If you have access to a kitchen (and have decent cooking skills), a homemade dinner is a thoughtful and delicious gift. Set up the table with a tablecloth and flowers for extra effect.
