Volleyball

DU 3, Louisiana-Layfayette 0

DU volleyball continued to roll in conference play this past weekend as they shutdown the University of Louisiana-Lafayette on the road.

The win moves the Pioneers to 3-1 in the conference and to fourth place in the division. The loss dropped Louisiana-Lafayette to an 0-4 record in the conference.

For the eight straight  game senior Emmy Davidsmeyer led the team with thirteen kills.

Kresson Vreeman had thirty-two assists in the match and led the team in that category.

The Pioneers volleyball team returns home this weekend for two conference matches against Florida Atlantic and Florida International.

 

Women’s Soccer

DU 3, Florida Atlantic 0

The Pioneers women’s soccer team helped their cause this past weekend as they shut out conference rival Florida Atlantic 3-0.

The win moves the Pioneers to 3-1 in conference play, pushing them up to a tie for third in the division, only a half game behind the first place team, Arkansas State.

The loss drops Florida Atlantic to 0-4 in Sun Belt Conference play and moves them into last place in the division.

The star of the game was sophomore mid fielder Kari Storslett. She scored her first two goals of the season.

It was the fourth shutout of the year for the Pioneers soccer team.

The team comes back home this weekend to play two games against Troy and South Alabama on Friday night and Sunday afternoon, respectively.

 

Men’s Soccer

DU 2, Tulsa 4

The men’s soccer team lost a tough game to the University of Tulsa in last weekends game.

The game was back and forth the whole time with DU hanging around the entire game. However, Tulsa knotted the clinching goal in the 84th minute.

Freshman forward Alex Tarnoczi scored early in the game to tie the score at one. Tulsa would later rally though to put the game away.

Sophomore Jarod Stigall had the other goal for the Pioneers on a pass from freshman Josh Wren who was playing in his home town of Tulsa, Okla.

The Pioneers return home this weekend to play a game against the University of Missouri-Kansas City on Saturday and hope to rebound from the tough loss.
